Our Head of Interim and self-professed geek Nathan conducted an experiment last week in the name of science (and confectionery). He believed, having read something very clever, that he could successfully calculate the number of jelly babies in a jar based on the ‘Wisdom of the Crowd’ theory.

Every year London Fashion Week drives forward a new sartorial craze (this year is leather, the colour purple and florals). Similarly, every year there seems to be a new craze, or buzzword, in the world of business. The 'It Girl' of 2012 seems to be Big Data (with M-Commerce on an almost equal footing, fighting it out for comment space and twitter mentions like Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie on a farm in the American Midwest).

I look around the FreshMinds office and, for once, find myself agreeing with a soundbite.
FreshMinds is a genuine example of what can be achieved when a business allows its employees to be themselves - whether that's keeping a selection of cacti, ribbons, paint tins and stuffed crocodiles on your desk, using an intricate system of mini post-it notes as a filing system, or going overboard at the Christmas party and building a life-sized igloo out of board paper and plastic bags.

During these difficult economic times it can be frustrating and ultimately unrewarding to stay in a job where you are underappreciated, overworked and feel like you are not growing or developing. As the economic conditions remain uncertain, don’t feel like your career should be mapped in one direction. Deciding and implementing a career change and starting from scratch may be the best career move you will ever make. Try not to think of this kind of change as risk; see it as an evolution.
